Cultural Awareness Training

Introducing UK Cultural Life & Language
Introducing UK Cultural Life & Language

A friendly & practical introduction to life in the UK.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Cultural Awareness Elearning Course provides an introduction for international students to life in the UK by raising awareness of Equality and Diversity.

Our higher education clients told us their priority was to ensure international students are safe.

They also told us that their students wanted an insight into UK speech patterns. Students wanted to understand the subtle and sometimes confusing way that English is used in the UK.

Our cultural awareness course is an essential addition to our suite of equality and diversity elearning courses.

This course can be customised for any institution and focuses on the following areas:

  • Welcome to the UK
  • Language and Communication  including a quiz on English slang
  • Staying safe
  • Equality and Diversity in the UK
  • Study skills – avoiding plagiarism and where to go for help
  • UK values

Course duration: This equality and diversity elearning course takes about 40 minutes to complete. Learners have the option to bookmark progress and complete the course in chunks.

What You Say

"Over 1000 staff completed the training programme…feedback was excellent. Rotherham MBC has worked with Marshall E-Learning to implement a new online Diversity training programme to be piloted by the Neighbourhoods Programme Area to support its first steps in developing a Neighbourhoods Equality and Diversity Training Strategy. The initial meeting with the company identified our needs. Following this, the company customised the product to our requirements. Over 1,000 staff from Neighbourhoods and our partners 2010 Rotherham Ltd (ALMO) completed the online programme over a 2 month period and feedback from staff was excellent. This provided the entire workforce with a base level of understanding, complemented by one-day training sessions. Marshalls met with our trainers to ensure there was continuity from the e-learning course and that we didn't duplicate any part of the learning. This work has been recognised nationally by our ALMO Inspection report that recognised the work we had undertaken in training staff in equality and diversity. From this initial pilot, Rotherham MBC is currently in discussions to purchase a Corporate License so that the remaining 10,000 council staff can receive the same training. I have been extremely delighted with both the initial service and ongoing support offered by Marshall E-Learning and would not hesitate to recommend them."
