What is the Financial Ombudsman Service, and what are its aims and values?
The Financial Ombudsman Service settles complaints between consumers and financial services businesses where they cannot reach a resolution themselves. Over a million people contact the service every year. Where necessary, they will use their powers to put things right for the consumer, including to require compensation payments to be paid.
In this course you will learn about the aims, values and commitments of the Financial Ombudsman Service, including its social responsibility and sustainability policy. You will also find out about what problems they can help you with, and how they make decisions when resolving a complaint. You will then hear about what the service can do for small businesses, and for claims management. Finally, you will meet some of the key personnel and understand their roles and responsibilities, including the ombudsmen and independent assessor.
Learners will be assessed on their knowledge and understanding through a test at the end of the course.
