COURSE OVERVIEW

Information Security Elearning Course, developed with Canterbury Christchurch University this course is one of 4 Online Induction Elearning Courses.

Social media is a huge part of students lives on and off campus. However, sometimes online etiquette can leave a lot to be desired, resulting in damage to the students mental health and the university’s reputation.

This Information Security Elearning Course tackles the issues of online behaviour, teaching students best practice for posting online and tips on what to avoid. It also demonstrates how students can make the most of social media to enhance their learning and future employability.  By the end of the course, students are able to:

  • define social media and digital footprint
  • promote the positive aspects of social media – to engage and network – and how this links to employability and getting yourself noticed for all the right reasons
  • promote key things to be aware of when using social media, particularly the legal aspects -security, privacy and data protection
  • highlight the potential negative impact of social media
  • identify the do’s and dont’s of social media etiquette.

The Information Security Elearning Course also provides hints and tips on using key social media channels – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, Instagram and Snapchat – setting privacy, getting the most out of them, and things to think about.

What You Say

"There’s pressure on students and Universities to cover topics such as Alcohol and Drug Awareness, Sexual Consent on Campus, Diversity, Social Media Savviness, Getting Support, Mental Health and Employability and we wanted to provide relevant, current information about important topics relevant to student life. I am super happy with the student induction course, especially as the Marshall E-Learning team delivered the module before the deadline. The team have been fantastic to work with. I hope this module will be really successful and we can continue working with Marshall E-Learning."
