Understand operational risk through real-life case studies

COURSE OVERVIEW

What is operational risk and how can it be managed?

Risk is defined as the ā€˜effect of uncertainty on achieving objectives’, or more simply ā€˜any chance of loss’ that a business may incur. Risks are theoretical, and will always exist – although firms can manage the impact down, the risk will never go away.

Risks can be categorised into a number of sub-types, and in this risk management series we will explore:

  • Market Risk
  • Conduct Risk
  • Operational Risk

Operational risk is formally defined by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) as the risk of loss resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, people and systems, or from external events.

This course has been designed to help people understand operational risk through real-life case studies and hypothetical examples. Learners will be assessed on their knowledge and understanding through a test at the end of the course.

Adjustments can be made to suit the needs of your company – please contact us for more information.
