Unconscious Bias Seminar

22nd September 2014

We recently held a complimentary 2-hour Unconscious Bias seminar for Marshall clients with our new partners enei – Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion – at Clarence Centre for Enterprise and Innovation within South Bank University. The event was attended by almost 20 Marshall clients representing 13 organisations from the private and public sectors.

Dan Robertson of enei led the event and set the scene with an explanation of unconscious bias, kicking off with an intriguing question about the cost of a cricket bat and cricket ball. If you’re interested, you’ll find the answer in our new enei Unconscious Bias course that we jointly developed for the Post Office.

A 20-minute group discussion gave participants the opportunity to consider the ways that unconscious bias impacted on their organisational culture, and what they were doing to address these issues.

Angie Cousins, Head of Equality,Diversity and Inclusion from University of Surrey told us: “I really enjoyed the Unconscious Bias seminar, Dan Robertson was an excellent speaker with an in-depth knowledge of the subject. The user groups for Marshall clients are a great way to gain insights into new topics and to network and meet other organisations.”

And here’s a positive tweet from Victoria Jackson of Kingston University:
