Inclusive Recruiting Masterclass

On 13 June 2013 Marshall ACM attended the Excellence in Inclusive Recruiting Masterclass held at Asia House, close to Regent’s Park, as knowledge partner and sponsor.

Twenty-four companies spanning the public and private sector with the recruitment, talent, resourcing industries well represented, attended the event to find out more about the latest thinking on inclusion and diversity.

Event Chair Baroness Oona King, gave clear direction throughout the day, and asked questions representing the wider business community aspiring to make inclusion and diversity top of their agenda.

Latest thinking around unconscious bias and inclusion

A variety of presentations provided delegates with plenty of stimulating new insights to provoke debate and demonstrated how the latest thinking around unconscious bias and inclusion is developing a new approach to equality and diversity in the workplace.

The consensus amongst participating organisations was a recognition that equality and diversity is not just a form-filling exercise, or an exercise in policy writing but a real business objective that has to be measured. And that a creatively implemented inclusion policy can enhance talent pools and optimise returns on investment.

Equally, measuring diversity in the workplace has its place, and it can help businesses recognise areas for improvement, and analyse the success of current policies to bring in diverse talent.

Sharing expertise and knowledge

Delegates were open to sharing strategies, ranging from conducting research in diverse markets, validating their strategy, the diverse market they are targeting and methods for sustaining their existing workforce. This shared collective knowledge will help to develop new methods for creating a truly diverse workforce.
