A short video about ‘How Unconscious Bias affects the recruitment process’

This video is the 2nd in a series of 4 videos about Unconscious Bias and how it impacts on our daily working lives. In this video we look at how Unconscious Bias can affect the recruitment process.

In a case study manager Kenichi needs to make a decision about who to select from his team to lead a forthcoming launch that will require long hours and a considerable amount of travel. Initially he thinks team member Paul would be perfect for the role. they get on well together, are both keen golfers and have two sons.

Kenichi stops himself from making the final decision so that he can consider the merits of two other team members: Victoria and Boris. Although Victoria is very talented she had a child six months and may not be able to put in the long hours and travel. And Boris has the most marketing experience but has only been with the company for 2 years and he comes from an Eastern European country (though Kenichi can’t remember which one…).
