Vernal Scott has over 20 years local government experience which involved all equality strands.
In the mid-1980’s he was appointed Head of HIV Services in Brent, one of London’s few ethnic majority boroughs.
In 2003 he joined Islington Council as their Head of Equality and Diversity, where over the next five years he was responsible for the Corporate Equality Action Plan; the respective Disability, LGBT, Sexuality and Race Equality Schemes and related consultation; Equality Standard for Local Government implementation; and overseeing Equality Impact Assessment implementation across the council. He was also responsible for the planning and management of annual events such as Black History Month, Holocaust Memorial, LGBT History Month and more.
