Our higher education clients told us their priority was to ensure international students are safe. Their students told us they wanted an insight into UK speech patterns, and the subtle, but sometimes confusing way that English is used in the UK.

Our cultural awareness e-learning course is an essential addition to our suite of diversity e-learning courses.

Learning by design
All our diversity e-learning courses are highly interactive with rich graphics and audio-visual content blending a variety of question-types to encourage uses to apply concepts to their daily work routine. An optional end-of-course test assesses learners on the level of knowledge they’ve retained. Pass rates can be set as required.

This e-learning course comes with Marshall LMS (Learning Management System) which allows you to manage all your e-learning and track completed training.

Our in-house developers can quickly & effectively adapt this course to your sector and organisation, giving you the option to add your own graphics, photos & video, and amend content to include your policies, procedures and key areas.

Organisational Need
Why do you need to provide learning for your users – specifically? Is there a compliance need, a requirement to raise performance – or generate positive outcomes for external stakeholders? We prioritise making this clear as the first step in all of our projects.

Learner Centric
Who are your learners? What are their preferred learning styles? What do they know already? How confident are they with using technology? We’ll put these questions to you, and base our approach around the picture we build up.

Learning Outcomes
We use these to decide what every screen in every course we make is intended to achieve. What is it – exactly – that learners need to explain, describe, distinguish or list? Defining these up-front keeps every project on course as we move from initial proposal, through to storyboarding and then development.

Engagement
Page-turning e-learning just doesn’t work. All of our courses are highly interactive, making extensive use of scenarios in particular. Rich media is used as appropriate, from audio-visual resources through to animations and bespoke graphics.

Respect for Learners
Treating learners as adults is vital to us. People don’t learn well if they feel they’re being patronised, and we aim to let users manage their own learning experience. We do this by writing our courses with an honest, direct tone, and giving learners choices in the form of additional learning resources and open navigational features.

‘What’s in it for me?’ is a question that all of our learners should be able to answer.

Over 1000 staff completed the training programme…feedback was excellent’ “Rotherham MBC has worked with Marshall ACM to implement a new online Diversity training programme to be piloted by the Neighbourhoods Programme Area to support its first steps in developing a Neighbourhoods Equality and Diversity Training Strategy. The initial meeting with the company identified our needs. Following this, the company customised the product to our requirements. Over 1,000 staff from Neighbourhoods and our partners 2010 Rotherham Ltd (ALMO) completed the on-line programme over a 2 month period and feedback from staff was excellent. This provided the entire workforce with a base level of understanding, which is now being complimented with one day training sessions. Marshalls met with our trainers to ensure there was continuity from the e-learning course and to ensure we didn’t duplicate any part of the learning. This work has been recognised nationally by our ALMO Inspection report that recognised the work we had undertaken in training staff in equality and diversity. From this initial pilot, Rotherham MBC are currently in discussions to purchase a Corporate License so that the remaining 10,000 council staff can receive the same training. When Marshall ACM commit…they do it’ “The Public Sector Diversity e-learning course (for managers) and Diversity in the Workplace – Local Government (for all employees) courses which our Council purchased from Marshall ACM was designed in partnership with a number of other local authorities across the West of Scotland and was specifically tailored by Marshalls ACM to suit the needs of employees across these Councils. These e-learning courses support our traditional classroom style equality training and raises awareness and understanding of the varied issues within equality and diversity in the workplace.
